The Mission
The Phantom Planet is an independently made 1961 science-fiction film about an astronaut stranded on a mysterious asteroid. It’s now in the public domain, and it gained a second life as a cult favorite on Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Jean-Claude Trans/Am took the footage as raw material: re-cut it, layered it with effects and set it to a completely original 12-part score that moves from driving prog-rock to neon synthwave to drifting, ambient space rock.
